St. John’s Medical Center announces a new support group for cancer
patients and survivors. Facilitated by social worker Sharon Walls, LMFT,
and cancer survivor Carol Poole, RN, OCN, the support group is open to
all cancer survivors, cancer patients, caregivers, and family members.
Meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of every month from
3:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the Eagle classroom.
The cancer support group provides the opportunity to network with other
survivors and caregivers. Participation in confidential support groups
offers many benefits, increased sense of empowerment and control, better
coping skills, a clearer understanding of what to expect, and reduced
loneliness, depression, and anxiety.
