Biography

Dr. James “Jim” Little, Jr. spent much of his childhood in Jackson, Wyoming, where his father, Dr. Jim Little, Sr., served as the community’s first pediatrician before retiring in 2022. Dr. Little graduated from Jackson Hole High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in television and film production from Syracuse University.

While in college and in the years that followed, Dr. Little developed a passion for medicine through his work as a professional and volunteer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). After a brief period working in television news and film production, he followed his dream and pursued a career in medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 1998, where he served as president of his medical school class, and completed his family medicine residency at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon.

Following seven years of family medicine practice in the Portland area, Dr. Little returned to Jackson Hole in 2008 to continue his medical career in the community he calls home.

Dr. Little practices patient-centered medicine and strongly believes in collaborative care that treats the whole person, not just individual conditions. His clinical interests include sports and wilderness medicine, aviation medicine, pediatric care, and urgent care for patients of all ages. He is board certified in family medicine and serves as a Senior FAA Aviation Medical Examiner.

Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Little is an avid skier, volunteers as a firefighter with Jackson Fire/EMS, and flies search-and-rescue missions as a pilot with the Civil Air Patrol.

Dr. Little has served as a Director of St. John’s Health Foundation since 2025.
