Biography

Robert M. Halper, MD, MBA, FACR, is a retired radiologist from Radiology Associates of Atlanta, where he served Piedmont Hospital from 1977 until 2016. Dr. Halper earned his undergraduate degree from Columbia University and received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. His postgraduate training included work at the University of Washington and a diagnostic radiology residency at the Robert Breck Bingham Hospital at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Halper earned his MBA from Kennesaw State University in 1997 and held numerous academic, clinical, and leadership roles throughout his career. These included serving as an instructor in radiology at Harvard Medical School; a staff radiologist at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Center; a visiting instructor at Emory University School of Medicine; Chairman of the Department of Radiology at Piedmont Hospital; and President of Radiology Associates of Atlanta during two separate terms.

Dr. Halper and his wife, Nanci, have four grown children and three grandchildren. They divide their time between Jackson and Atlanta and enjoy traveling, photography, skiing, biking, hiking, and a wide range of outdoor pursuits.

Dr. Halper has served as a Director of St. John’s Health Foundation since 2019.
