Annual Community Health Fair to feature medical screenings

St. John’s Annual Community Health Fair will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 9 am to noon at Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation Center.

Health Fair organizers have responded to the community’s need for better access to health care by offering medical screenings at each of the booths and by providing Spanish language interpreters.

“Access to care continues to be an issue for Teton County residents, as shown by the last two Community Health Needs Assessments,” said Julia Heemstra, director of wellness at St. John’s Medical Center. “We hope to address this issue by providing free medical screenings at our booths this year.”

Screenings include blood pressure, injury assessment, skin cancer checks, atrial fibrillation, cognitive memory, immunizations for all ages, sleep apnea, vision, prostate, and more.

In addition, St. John’s Medical Center staff will be available to interpret results from wellness blood tests done at the hospital. People interested in this service must have their blood drawn prior to noon on May 4 in order to have their results read at the Health Fair. To schedule an appointment, call the hospital’s scheduling department at 307.739.7531.

The Spring Run-off 5K, co-sponsored by Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation, will begin at 8:15 am for runners and 9:00 am for walkers and runners in the fun division. Race registration is $10 and is available online at tetonparksandrec.org. There will be no race day registration. Bib pickup begins at 7:15 am.

The Fair will also include family-friendly activities. Healthy refreshments are provided by Broadway Coffee, Healthy Being Juicery, Jackson Whole Grocer, and Lotus Café.
