We offer patients and their family the following support services free
of charge:
- Helping patients and their loved ones deal with a cancer diagnosis
- Supporting patients and their loved ones in making informed choices about care
- Teaching stress reduction skills and other mind-body techniques to aid
in the healing process
- Assisting patients in accessing community resources
- Helping patients navigate the health care system
- Acting as a bridge between patients and medical teams to ensure patient's
needs are met

From day one we make it clear to our patients that they have an ally in
this difficult time, even if all they need is a compassionate ear. The
first step in your treatment will be meeting the team and discussing your
hopes, concerns, and pressing questions. Simply getting informed about
what’s ahead can be an enormous relief.
Oncology Rehabilitation
Oncology rehab incorporates a wide range of therapies designed to help
you build strength and endurance during your treatment. The goal of this
program is to help you reduce stress and keep up energy to participate
in daily activities that are important to you. St. John’s offers
several rehabilitation therapies to patients. We highly encourage participation
in these programs as they often elevate a patient’s mood and help
them maintain a positive outlook.
-
Physical Therapy – In cancer care, physical therapy aims to reduce fatigue and improve physical
function that may be impaired due to the disease or chemotherapy. A physical
therapist creates an exercise plan customized for your needs that combines
range-of-motion training with light resistance exercises
-
Occupational Therapy – Cancer can sometimes interfere with your ability to perform daily activities
that are important to you, but occupational therapy works around these
limitations so that you experience as little interruption as possible.
Our occupational therapists can help you with activities like dressing,
showering, and eating.
-
Speech and Language Pathology - Many patients with cancer can benefit from speech and language pathology.
Therapists address problems you may be experiencing, like difficulty swallowing,
loss of voice, including dry mouth or cognitive changes that often result
from cancer treatment.
