Firm for Construction Manager at Risk to be selected at special meeting

On Monday, April 16, St. John’s Medical Center (SJMC) facilities committee will interview three firms applying to be the construction manager at risk (CMAR) for the construction of St. John’s new Living Center. The facilities committee will make a recommendation to the SJMC Board of Trustees, which will hold a special public meeting to vote on the committee’s recommendation. The public is invited to attend the interviews and the public meeting, both of which will be held in the Boardroom.

“The community has demonstrated tremendous interest in this project,” said Cynthia Hogan, chair of the SJMC Board of Trustees. “We invite the public to remain engaged by attending this process.”

The interviews will take place from 8:00 to 11:00 am. Each firm will have 30 minutes to make a presentation and 15 minutes to answer questions. The schedule will be as follows:

At 11:00 am, the facilities committee will hold a closed session to discuss its findings and select the firm to recommend to the Board of Trustees.

At 11:45 am, the Board of Trustees will have a public meeting to vote on the facility committee’s recommendation for a CMAR and authorize SJMC administration to negotiate pricing.

The SJMC facilities committee is comprised of representatives of the SJMC staff, SJMC Board of Trustees, and the community. The facilities committee began the selection process for a CMAR in March with a review of statements of qualifications from interested firms.

The new facility will provide long-term residential nursing care, memory support, transitional care (short-term rehabilitation), and hospice and respite care services.
