Protect yourself and your loved ones with a flu shot

Protect yourself and your loved ones with a flu shot

October marks the beginning of the 2019-20 flu season, making now the time to get a flu shot.

“The CDC recommends getting a flu shot every year for everyone age six months and older,” said Martin Trott, MD, medical director at St. John’s. “Every flu season is different, but the annual flu vaccine is the best way to help protect against flu.”

For patients who wish to pay cash and not go through insurance, St. John’s Family Health & Urgent Care is offering walk-in flu shot clinics on Saturday, October 26 and Saturday, November 2, 10 am–4 pm, at 1415 South Highway 89 (Smith’s Plaza). The regular dose vaccine will be available for the cash or check price of $25 (regularly $50).

Through the remainder of the flu season, flu shots are available at St. John’s Retail Pharmacy (on a walk-in basis), located at 555 E. Broadway, entrance B. Open Monday–Friday, 8 am to 6 pm. Prices are $50 for the regular dose and $80 for the high dose (recommended for seniors). Insurance/Medicare will be billed. Call 307.739.7656 for more information.

“The flu shot is completely covered by most insurance plans,” said pharmacist Bill Jackson. “But it’s possible that you may have a co-payment, depending on your plan. For seniors age 65 and up, the high-dose shot is covered at 100% by Medicare Part B.”

Flu shots are also available when you see your St. John’s primary care provider for a regular appointment.
