Press Ganey's 2024 patient experience awards are out, and St. John's Health in Jackson, WY has earned the Guardian of Excellence Award for inpatient care, reflecting high patient satisfaction with the care provided before, during, and after a stay at the hospital. Press Ganey conducts patient satisfaction surveys for more than 41,000 healthcare organizations across the U.S. and awards the inpatient Guardian of Excellence recognition to only the top 5% nationally, based on a one-year look back at key indicators. "Hearing from our patients that we are providing them with excellent care is the highest honor we can receive," said SJH CEO Jeff Sollis.
Federal regulation requires that SJH participate in a survey process to receive feedback about patient perceptions of many aspects of the hospital experience, including doctor communication, nurse communication, staff responsiveness, medication communication, hospital environment, discharge information, food service, and overall patient experience. For several years, SJH has partnered with Press Ganey to conduct patient surveys, due to Press Ganey's large database of thousands of hospitals in the U.S. “Not only does Press Ganey allow us to see how we stack up against other hospitals, but the data we receive about our patient perceptions allows us to set benchmarks and goals that make sense and help us continuously improve," said Sollis.
"What makes the Patient Experience Guardian of Excellence Award from Press Ganey so special is that it truly takes all of us here at SJH working together to achieve this extraordinary level of patient satisfaction," said SJH Patient Experience Director Marcus Stauffer. "We have hundreds of team members who contribute to the inpatient experience, each responsible for a crucial role," Stauffer noted.
“I have never worked anywhere with such caring and dedicated staff,” said Dr. Marcia Lux, chief of staff and hospitalist physician at SJH. “I hear from patients routinely that they have never received such good care in a hospital.”
