Lance Spranger named to "100 Community Hospital CIOs to Know" list

Lance Spranger, Chief Information OfficerSt. John’s Medical Center is pleased to announce that Lance Spranger, chief information officer, has been named to Becker's Healthcare "100 Community Hospital CIOs to Know | 2017" list.

According to a press release from Becker’s, “The chief information officers (CIOs) on this list lead the health information technology (IT) teams at community hospitals and health systems. The individuals highlighted have implemented electronic health record systems, lead cybersecurity initiatives, and oversee telehealth/telemedicine programs. Community hospital CIOs must be skilled at building teams and working across departments to build and deliver a successful health IT infrastructure.”

“The award is well deserved and indicative of his great work at St. John’s,” said John Kren, St. John’s Medical Center CFO/COO. “In addition to his outstanding leadership, Lance’s achievements include overseeing security enhancements to our data systems, developing IT support of clinical and business excellence, and leading a selection committee focused on bringing St. John’s to a new level through the selection of a fully integrated electronic medical record system.”

Spranger has been the chief information officer at St. John’s since 2015. He oversees a team of 16 system engineers and administrators, technology support specialists, and business/clinical analysts. Prior to taking his current position, he served as the director of information technology at Beaver Dam Community Hospitals, Inc. in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. In addition to holding bachelor’s and master’s degrees, Spranger is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems.

The Becker's Hospital Review accepted nominations for the CIOs-to-know list and developed the final list based on editorial research.
