Sports Physicals Offered at St. John's Family Health & Urgent Care

On Saturday, August 5, St. John’s Family Health & Urgent Care will provide pre-participation physical examinations (sports physicals) at discounted rates. These exams help determine whether it's safe for student athletes to participate in sports.

Sports physicals will be available from 8 to 10 am and 4 to 6 pm (outside of regular clinic hours) for student athletes entering grades 6 to 12. The cost is $35. To help streamline the process and minimize wait times, the 8-10 am time is recommended for students on the dance, cheer, tennis, golf, volleyball, or swim teams; and the 4-6 pm time is recommended for students on the football, cross-country, and other teams. Sports physicals on other dates and times are available at the regular rate of $65.

No appointments are necessary, and only cash or checks (payable to St. John’s Medical Center) will be accepted.

Students must bring a completed Wyoming High School Activities Association School Physical Examination form with them, signed by a parent or guardian. Download a form by clicking here.

“Students interested in playing inter-scholastic sports need to complete a sports physical before they can attend practices. The form needs to be dated after May 1,” said Mike Hansen, the athletic director for Teton County School District. In the case of a patient not being cleared to participate (from the findings of the sports physical), he or she will need to have a follow up exam with a pediatrician or primary care provider.

St. John’s Medical Center reminds parents and guardians that a sports physical is not a full, comprehensive exam and does not take the place of an annual exam with a primary care provider or pediatrician. The sports physical form may also be completed during that exam.

On the day of the sports physicals, the clinic will be open during its regular Saturday hours -- 10 am to 4 pm -- for urgent care visits. The clinic is located in Smith's Plaza at 1415 South Highway 89 in Jackson, WY.
