St. John's Cancer Care to provide information day

St. John’s Cancer Care will provide an information day at the Pinedale Aquatic Center on Saturday, May 20, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The theme of the event is “Focus on Wellness” and the day will include workshops, classes, and information booths to help people as they cope with cancer.

“We are bringing activities and services to the Pinedale area, so people can have access to this information without having to travel,” said Dawn Rettig, director of oncology at St. John’s Medical Center.

Classes include yoga from 10:00 to 11:00 am, taught by Cameron Barker, the owner of Jackson Hole Yoga Therapy; a presentation on food-based cancer fighters from 12:30 to 1:00 pm by registered dietitian Tenley Burlingame; and an exercise class from 1:00 to 2:00 pm taught by Leslie Roberts, certified personal trainer.

There will be support group from 11 am to noon, led by St. John’s social worker Lynnette Gaertner and oncology nurse Beth Shidner. The topic is “Focusing on Your Story.”

Tenley Burlingame, registered dietitian, will provide 15-minute nutritional consultations between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm. Appointments are available by calling 307-739-6195, and walk-ins are welcome.

Booths will be available throughout the event, with information on acupuncture, preventive screening recommendations, rehabilitation during and after cancer, survivorship, and genetic counseling and screening.

The Pinedale Aquatic Center is located at 435 North Tyler Ave, Pinedale, Wyoming.
