St. John’s Medical Center is pleased to announce that CEO Paul Beaupré, MD, has been named to the 2017 edition of Becker's Healthcare “112 Physician Leaders of Hospitals and Health Systems to Know” list. CEO Paul Beaupre, MD

The Becker’s list features hospital and health system presidents and CEOs who hold medical degrees and who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and clinical expertise throughout their careers. Many individuals on the list have served in the top spots of multiple hospitals during their careers, as well as on community boards and national organizations. These physicians also have had accomplished clinical careers, giving them unique insight into the healthcare industry.

According to Becker’s, hospitals led by physicians consistently appear as top hospitals among rating and ranking sites such as U.S. News & World Report and Healthgrades. Many CEOs featured on this list have led their institutions through significant growth projects and technology installations, and continue to keep an eye on future development.

“This award reflects the outstanding leadership Paul has provided our hospital since he joined us a year ago,” said Michael Tennican, chairman of the St. John’s Medical Center board of trustees. “With the strong support of the board, he is leading a review of St. John’s strategy for the long run. This review has already led to a major initiative, aided by community support, to modernize our current Living Center and extend the range of services we can offer.”

“Paul has also launched new initiatives to build on St. John’s strong record for patient health and safety. St. John’s has received a 4-star rating from CMS (the federal regulatory agency), has received an A rating from the Leapfrog Group and and has been named the safest hospital in Wyoming by Consumer Reports,” said Tennican. “This is testament to the leadership and hard work of Paul, our physicians, and the entire hospital staff.”

Prior to taking the CEO position at St. John’s, Dr. Beaupré served as Chief Executive Officer of Good Samaritan Hospital in Silicon Valley. While there, Dr. Beaupré launched the Journey to Excellence strategy based on the premise: Take Great Care of Patients and Everything Else Will Take Care of Itself. Under his leadership, Good Samaritan Hospital became nationally recognized for quality measures and patient safety.

According to Becker’s, the list is not an endorsement of included hospitals, health systems or associated healthcare providers, and organizations cannot pay for inclusion on this list. Organizations are presented in alphabetical order. Becker's Hospital Review has published a version of this list since 2012.
