St. John's Health Board Announces Officers for 2021

At a public meeting, the Board of Trustees of St. John's Health elected the 2021 officers of the Board, effective January 1, 2021: Sue Critzer, chair; Debbie Hopkins, vice chair; Cynthia Hogan, secretary; and Scott Gibson, treasurer.

Outgoing chair Cynthia Hogan was recognized by the Board for her three years of service. “Cynthia has remained steadfastly focused on providing the highest quality care to our community and assuring that we remain a financially sustainable and socially responsible community-based healthcare system,” said Scott Gibson, treasurer, in a motion that received unanimous support. “She has also strengthened our committee system of governance, our Board advisor process, and our relationship with the Foundation. We as a community have been very fortunate to have Cynthia as our chair, and as a Board we recognize and thank her for her dedicated service.”

Sue Critzer The newly elected chair, Sue Critzer, MBA, previously served as vice chair of the Board as well as chair of the Quality and Compliance Committee, member of the Strategy/HR committee, and chair of the CEO Search Committee.

“I have enjoyed working with Cynthia as vice chair over the past year, and I am looking forward to working with Dr. Beaupré and Will Wagnon during what I am sure will be a smooth transition,” said Critzer. “As we move forward, we have many challenges facing us, such as employee housing and potential for-profit competition. Together, the Board of Trustees and our new CEO will continue to work diligently to meet these challenges in a way that allows us to remain an independent non-profit community resource whose focus is to serve and reinvest in the community.”

A trained engineer who started her career with General Motors, Critzer transitioned to the medical device industry where she led two start-ups as CEO. Since moving to Jackson in 2007, Critzer has volunteered at St. John’s Health in roles including Auxiliary leadership, certified Affordable Care Act navigator, and Board advisor.
