C. Allen Woods Jr., MD

About C. Allen

As a general gastroenterologist, Dr. Allen Woods has spent nearly four decades supporting patients with a diversity of GI conditions. He completed medical school at the Medical College of Georgia, followed by an internship and residency at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. Dr. Woods also completed a gastroenterology fellowship at the Phoenix VA Hospital at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.

Dr. Woods felt that he was always on track to be a doctor, even from a very young age. Over the course of his career, he has performed over 70,000 endoscopic procedures and has treated almost every GI-related ailment known. Even with such extensive experience, he enjoys learning about all of the latest research, procedures and treatments in the field. He welcomes the challenges of unique patients and situations, and finds joy in knowing that he has helped to prevent cancer through screening, early detection or treatment.

When Dr. Woods isn’t supporting patients on their journey toward wellness, he can be found hunting, fishing, traveling or participating in his local church community. He and his wife of 46 years have four grown children, three grandchildren, and a fourth grandchild due to be delivered at St. John’s Health at the end of December 2023.
