Psychiatry is the branch of medicine focused on the diagnosis and treatment of cognitive, emotional and behavioral disorders (also called mental health problems). Psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in mental health and are qualified to assess and treat both the psychological and biological aspects of mental health problems. Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists have undergone specialty training in the diagnosis and treatment of mental health problems in young people.

St. John’s Health Psychiatry provides assessments, diagnostic formulations and treatment plans based on a biopsychosocial model and prescribes evidence-based pharmacotherapy (medication management).

We accept new patients aged 2-18 years.

For optimal care coordination, patients should be referred by their pediatrician, primary care provider, therapist, or school personnel.

Care for First Responders

St. John's Health is proud to offer free mental health services for TIPS-affiliated first responders. First responders are often exposed to difficult and traumatic situations. St. John's Health Psychiatry offers 100% confidential help including comprehensive diagnostic assessments, psychotherapy treatment or medication recommendations, specialized service referrals, and medication management. Any fees not covered by health insurance will be reimbursed by the TIPS program.
