St. John’s Health has been recognized as one of Newsweek’s top hospitals in the nation in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 including first-place ranking in Wyoming. Out of the 4,500 qualified hospitals in the United States, fewer than 300 earned this distinction.
The Women’s Choice Award® (WCA), a referral source for healthcare choices based on robust national criteria, named St. John’s Health one of “America’s Best Hospitals” for placing in the top 1% of over 4,500 hospitals nationwide in obstetrics, orthopedics, emergency care, mammography imaging center, minimally invasive surgery, and outpatient experience. The WCA also honored St. John’s with Best 100 Hospitals for Patient Experience.
For the fourth year in a row, Healthgrades awarded St. John’s Health the Outstanding Patient Experience Award, presented to the top 15% of all hospitals in the nation. The award is based on nine measures related to doctor and nurse communication, hospital cleanliness and noise levels, and medication, and post-discharge care instructions.
Newsweek recognized St. John’s Health with its Best Maternity Care Hospitals 2021 award. Only 217 hospitals in the U.S made the Newsweek list, and St. John’s was the only Wyoming hospital selected.
St. John’s was also named one of the top 20 rural and community hospitals in the country, based on eight indices: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspectives, costs, charge, and financial efficiency.
The Chartis Center for Rural Health included St. John’s Health on its 2021 Top 100 Rural & Community Hospital list, based on a comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance that uses public data and 36 independent indicators.
St. John’s Health’s Sage Living was recognized as a Best Nursing Home for 2020-21 by U.S. News & World Report for the second consecutive year. Previously, the Living Center earned the highest possible rating, “High Performing,” for both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care.

St. John’s Health Emergency Department received top marks from Press Ganey, which granted the department the “Guardian of Excellence Award” for achieving a rank of 95th percentile in patient satisfaction surveys, including data collected during the Covid-19 pandemic. Patients provided high scores for both “Likelihood to Recommend” and “Overall Rating.”
St. John’s Health has received eight national environmental excellence awards from Practice Greenhealth, the nation’s leading organization dedicated to environmental sustainability in health care.
Becker’s Healthcare listed St. John’s Health the best hospital in Wyoming for orthopedic care, according to a rating by U.S. News & World Report, which examined 1,241 hospitals in the U.S. and rated them based on several points, including 30-day survival rates, patient experience, and nurse staffing.
The International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners and International Lactation Consultant Association recognized the Birth Center at St. John’s Health for excellence in lactation care. The IBCLC award was based on the number of staff members who are board-certified lactation consultants and the availability of a lactation program for breastfeeding families.
The Wyoming Nurses Association granted St. John’s Health a Collaborative Practice Award and Brittany Jones, a hospitalist at St. John’s Health, a Nursing Leadership Award in Advanced Practice Nursing.
