MRI Scans in Jackson Hole

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) Exams

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) exams are non-invasive imaging scans. MRI machines manage to create detailed images of body tissue, organs, and bone without the use of radiation. It has proven to be immensely useful in diagnosing conditions of the brain and spinal cord.

An MRI can help in the diagnosis of:

  • Brain damage
  • Stroke
  • Aneurysm
  • Arthritis
  • Eye problems
  • Inner ear disorders
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Spine injuries

St. John’s Health offers MRI scanning in Teton County using the MAGNETOM® Aera 1.5T Open Bore MRI system. This state-of-the-art device is designed for optimal speed and patient comfort. In addition to the MRI system, St. John's also has a Hologic Sentinelle Breast MRI Coil and Aegis 3D Visualization Software to provide very high resolution imaging to aid radiologists in the detection and characterization of breast cancer. The unit’s Unique Variable Coil Geometry provides minimally invasive access for biopsies and enhanced patient comfort while the new software aids the radiologist interpreting the exam.

Benefits of the MAGNETOM Aera 1.5T Open Bore

The MAGNETOM Aera was developed by Siemens health care. It was designed with patient comfort in mind, and can increase MRI productivity by more than 50% from standard models. The MAGNETOM Aera utilizes ultra-high-density coils to create excellent quality images of the body’s structures. These results allow physicians to perform faster, more accurate diagnoses for everything from broken bones to breast cancer.

The tube component of the MAGNETOM Aera is particularly large, 70 cm, to alleviate patient stress. The tube is also much shorter than most devices, and many patients can receive their scan with their head remaining outside of the enclosing. Like other MRIs, patients can remain in contact with a technician during the test through an intercom device.

The entire MRI suite is designed to be welcoming, with hardwood floors, soft lighting and an “illusion of the sky” ceiling to provide the patient with a sense of open space. Call the imaging department at 307.200.2119 to learn more about our MRI procedure.
